POLAND: Checked for two Polish radio relays as per DX
Mix #507, dated 12 Feb. Didn't hear either, scheduled
for 2200 on 9660 via GUF and 6050 via WER. 25 Feb.

I bought a Kaito KA1102 yesterday. I absolutely love
it. It came with a 10ft or so indoor antenna. It works
almost as well as the NRD. I like the Kaito better
than the DX-440. All logs below were heard on the
Kaito.


ASCENSION: WYFR relay 15195 at 2014. Harold Camping
says that creation began 11,013 BC. News to know.


ENGLAND: R Algeria relay 5915 at 2118 in Arabic
w/chants. QRM from 5920 WBOH. //9850 barely audible.


SWAZILAND: TWR 6120 at 0625 w/interview.

Vatican Radio

Today is the 77th anniversary of Vatican Radio. Gugliemo Marconi was on hand for the inauguration. He said, "I have the highest honor of announcing that in only a matter of seconds the Supreme Pontiff, Pope Pius XI, will inaugurate the Radio Station of the Vatican City state."

Pope Pius the XI was the former Achille Cardnial Ratti.

WOTL, Toledo, comes in better on my car radio than the DX-440. It comes in over WBCL, Fort Wayne. The former is affiliated with family radio. Heard at 2200+.

WCMU

WCMU is operating on low power in order for the transmitter to be fixed. This allowed me to hear WBCY Bucyrus in Metro Detroit. Usually this I hear this in Ann Arbor, or to the south, in Toledo. At 2000 or so this was alternating with WOVI, which is usually weak in Westland.

WSDP Canton is now broadcasting 24h, unusual for a high school station. I have no idea who DJs at night. This makes WDTR Monroe harder to hear, along with other stations.

1540: KTGG at 2144 w/blurb from HCJB. Alt w/CHIN. Rare catch here. Under WBCO, Bucyrus, OH. At 2156 the latter played Trains and Boats and Planes by Dionne Warwick. KTGG is the only k-call in Michigan, assigned by mistake.
